2026 LAUNCESTON K.O CUP Final

PENSILVA 2-1 HALWILL

Ryan Chapman.............Ryan James
Danny Hayward

Pensilva finally overcame a very resilient Halwill side that had taken a first half lead but although they had their goalkeeper to thank for a Man of the Match performance they could not hold onto their slender half time lead.
Pensilva with a goal in the final few minutes clinched Pensilva’s fifth Launceston Cup victory.
Halwill played with the wind at their backs in the first half but never fully tested Jake Truscott in the Pensilva goal and it was Pensilva's captain Jack Podmore who forced Halwill ‘keeper Josh Chalk into making the first meaningful save of the game on 28 minutes.
Halwill did however press a bit more and in the 43rd minute Ryan James fired in a shot from 20yards which seemed catch the wind and deceive Truscott, with the ball escaping his clutches and ending up in the net.
Half Time 0-1

The second half was very much dominated by Pensilva with Halwill really struggling to make any attacking headway. Pensilva found the Halwill 'keeper in inspired form. Chalk seemed to use every part of his body to keep Halwill's lead saving notably from Aaron Varcoe on 60 mins and Chris Snowdon in the 72nd minute. Eventually though Pensilva's dominant pressure paid off and following another fine save from Chalk the ball was forced back into the penalty area and Ryan Chapman fired into the far corner of the net from the right side.

Halwill continued to resist the waves of attacks but with only three minutes remaing of normal time remaining a corner from the left was swung over to the far post and fell kindly for Danny Hayward to tap in from close range and there was no way back for Halwill and the cup belongs to Pensilva.
